Open Access PCs

Computing facilities for students at the Plymouth campus are provided in open access areas, teaching rooms and laboratories.

The main open access areas are:

  • Level 1 of the Babbage Building is open 24 hours a day term time, and during vacation, between 08:00 - 22:30.
  • Library Level 0 Open Access Computing Area open 24 hours a day all year round.

To ensure all computers have the latest software and security patches we shut down the computers in stages between 00:00 and 06:00 every weekend. Please check tags attached to the PCs to see whether it will shut down on the Saturday or Sunday.

Computers are available for all students on campus on a first-come basis and these provide access to a wide variety of software packages and, through the student portal, to the internet, email, on-line databases and journals, and learning materials. Other facilities are available for the preparation and presentation of work (colour printing, photocopying, scanning). Computing/media staff at the student enquiry desk in the Library are on hand to advise and help.
